Cathy Moon is a dedicated and enthusiastic public servant, parent, and advocate for Flagler County Schools and students, bringing excitement to every initiative she undertakes. She holds a BA in Health and Safety Education, a Graduate certificate in Human Resources, and an MBA, bringing nearly 30 years of experience in program/project management and increasing levels of responsibility which culminated in an executive leadership role at the US Postal Service HQ in Washington, D.C., and a deep commitment to the health and safety of students and staff as well as a focus on goal-setting with measurable results. 

Deeply inspired by educators and counselors involved in her and her children’s journey in public schools and fueled by excitement for the future of Flagler County, Cathy Moon believes that strong public schools build strong communities by preparing students for life after graduation, including creating a resource pool for local businesses, Cathy believes in fostering an environment where every student feels supported and challenged.

Professional Expertise

  • 30-year background as a public servant, particularly at the United States Postal Service, where she began as a letter carrier at a local post office and promoted to roles of increasing responsibility at the district, area, and HQ level, where she ultimately served as an executive. 
  • Proven record in customer relations, project management, program management, fiscal management, Lean Six Sigma and Continuous Improvement, approaching each role with enthusiasm and a genuine excitement for positive change.

 

Leadership Roles

  • Previously served as an executive with the US Postal Service, managing a budget of $280 million and a staff of up to 50
  • Successfully led a small, high-performing unit which utilized cross-functional project teams to drive $475 million in expenses from the organization over a three-year period while maintaining service standards

 

Local Connection

Cathy Moon and her husband Dan moved to Palm Coast in 2017 following retirement to be closer to their only grandchild, operating a small business together through 2024. Ms. Moon has been attending all school board meetings since last fall, driven by her curiosity and eagerness to learn about the district’s challenges and opportunities. 

 

 

 

On August 18, vote Cathy Moon for Flagler County School Board.
